Gyfyng Smallholding
pop-up Camping

A small, secluded, pop-up riverside campsite
in Snowdonia

Booking for AUGUST 2024

Gyfyng Smallholding is thirty-one acres of river bank, woodland, open fields and a small upland saddle with views out to the sea and up Cwm Pennant skirted by Moel Hebog and the Nantlle Ridge.

Each of the two pitches takes a maximum of 5 people and is built against the mossy, old stone walls that border the River Dwyfor.

Each pitch has a bell tent, space for your own tent(s) a sheltered and fully equipped cookhouse with gas ring, a pub table, a fire pit, showers and compost loos available onsite. So you don't really have to bring anything beyond sleeping bags and pillows!

There's lots to do in the 31 acre smallholding itself.  Cool off in the fresh waters of the river, and explore the river bank above the campsite.  Swim in the dark pools in the woodland, or climb onto the saddle of Craig Gyfyng and watch the sun cast its evening shadows across Cwm Dwyfor at the head of the Cwm Pennant.

Beyond the borders of the smallholding you can explore the magical Cwm Pennant hike straight up into the mountains and up to the head of the valley, past World Heritage Site slate mines and reaching stunning views of Ynys Môn (Anglesea) and Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon).

And beyond the many treasures of Cwm Pennant there's the fantastic hiking, canoeing and other outdoor activities across the mountains of Snowdonia, the wonderful and varied beaches of the LLyn Peninsular and Anglesea. Harlech and Barmouth are within easy reach as well.

Take the world's fastest zip wire or ride the fantastic Festiniog Steam Railway through the spectacular landscape or re-visit 1970's TV memories with a visit to Portmeirion.

Buy a permit and fish the lower reaches of the river Dwyfor for sea trout and salmon (when the river level is right) or head out to sea for mackerel and sea bass. Or just recharge your energies by the river, cook in the cook house, rest in a hammock and let the nature around you work its magic.
